from The God Poems

god came looking for me maybe not to kill me i

was scared that he might he wanted to hurt me

i hid at a hotel in the same town where i lived

sat at the bar in the lobby ordered prosecco and

pizza to appear inconspicuous kept an eye on

the sliding doors of the entrance i admit it was

thrilling as if my life were a movie and then fear

returned a different kind of thrill a tightening of

the throat where god’s hands had held me before

entirely as an act of pleasure
